Invitation to Submit Proposals for Special Issues to the Journal of Genomics and Health Sciences

The Journal of Genomics and Health Sciences (JOGHS) welcomes proposals from qualified Guest Editors for Special Issues that address significant emerging questions in genomics and health sciences. Proposals should advance understanding of genomic medicine, precision healthcare, genetic disorders, molecular diagnostics, bioinformatics, population genomics or related interdisciplinary health research.

All Special Issues are expected to meet the same standards of independent peer review, ethical oversight, editorial accountability and scholarly quality as regular journal submissions.

Guidelines for Submitting Special Issue Proposals

1. Scope and Focus

Special Issues should address a focused research theme within the journal’s Aims and Scope. Relevant topics include human and medical genomics, functional genomics, epigenetics, precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, gene and cell therapies, molecular diagnostics, cancer genomics, inherited and rare disorders, microbiome research, bioinformatics, computational genomics, multi-omics, AI-supported genomic analysis, genomic epidemiology, and ethical, legal or social issues in genomic medicine.

A proposed Special Issue should address a timely and well-defined problem, recent scientific advances, unanswered questions, or an innovative method or translational application relevant to genomics and health sciences.

2. Guest Editor Responsibilities

Guest Editors are expected to:

  • Identify suitably qualified researchers who may contribute rigorous research relevant to the approved topic.
  • Support fair, independent and constructive external peer review for all manuscripts.
  • Maintain scientific coherence while respecting the authority of the Editor-in-Chief and the journal’s Editorial Board.
  • Declare and manage any conflicts of interest and uphold confidentiality, research ethics, human-subject protection, publication integrity and the journal’s requirements for AI-assisted tools.
  • Promote the Special Issue through appropriate scholarly and professional channels without promising acceptance or preferential review.

3. Proposal Content

The proposal should include:

  • Title of the Special Issue: A focused, informative title.
  • Rationale and Objectives: The scientific and clinical importance of the proposed theme.
  • Themes and Topics: Specific genomic or health-science research questions, methods or application areas.
  • Potential Authors: Prospective contributors and relevant expertise, where applicable.
  • Guest Editors: Names, affiliations, contact information, qualifications and short biographies.
  • Expected Timeline: Submission, review, revision, decision and publication milestones.
  • Target Audience: Genomic researchers, molecular biologists, clinicians, bioinformaticians, genetic counsellors, public-health researchers, healthcare practitioners and relevant policymakers.

4. Submission Process

Submit the proposal to the journal editorial office. The uploaded source gives editor@crijournals.org; confirmation of the current address is recommended.

The editorial team evaluates fit with the journal’s scope, scientific value, feasibility, editorial expertise and ethical requirements.

Approval of a Special Issue proposal does not constitute acceptance of any individual manuscript.

5. Publication Timeline

Following proposal approval, the journal and Guest Editors establish an appropriate schedule for submissions, peer review, revisions, editorial decisions and publication. Publication timing depends on manuscript quality, reviewer availability and necessary editorial and production checks.

6. Peer Review Process

Every Special Issue submission is subject to editorial screening and the journal’s normal independent double-blind peer-review procedures. All accepted work must satisfy the same quality, ethics, reporting and conflict-of-interest standards as regular submissions.

7. Editorial Independence and Special Issue Oversight

The Editor-in-Chief or authorised journal editor retains responsibility for final decisions. Guest Editors must not handle manuscripts where conflicts could undermine impartial assessment. Special Issue procedures must not bypass the journal’s regular review and ethical safeguards.

Accepted Special Issue articles are published under the journal’s applicable open-access, copyright and author-fee policies. The website currently gives inconsistent licensing information; the publisher should confirm the definitive licence and copyright terms before publication of this page.

9. Questions and Contact
